VHSL Softball Top 10 Rankings (April 11, 2026)
The latest VA Prep Softball Top 10 rankings are in, and across Classes 4, 5, and 6, several teams remain unbeaten while others are starting to separate themselves with signature wins. With district play heating up and key matchups on the horizon, the picture is beginning to take shape — but plenty remains to be decided.
Class 4 Top 10
- Mecklenburg County (6-0)
- Amherst County (6-0)
- Varina (4-0)
- Patrick Henry (Ashland) (2-0)
- Eastern View (10-1)
- Sherando (6-1)
- James Wood (5-1)
- Woodgrove (4-1)
- King George (4-1)
- Powhatan (4-1)
Class 4 Notes
Mecklenburg County continues its strong start against VHSL competition, remaining unbeaten and holding the top spot, with rival Amherst County right behind them at No. 2. The eventual clash between those two programs looms large.
Region 4B is loaded, featuring Varina, Patrick Henry (Ashland), and Eastern View — three teams that look like legitimate contenders. Those matchups later this season should go a long way in determining the true pecking order.
Sherando and James Wood are also on a collision course later this month in what should be one of the more telling games in the region.
Class 5 Top 10
- Matoaca (4-0)
- Lightridge (7-0)
- Riverbend (8-0)
- Deep Run (6-0)
- Ocean Lakes (6-1)
- Hickory (6-1)
- Great Bridge (5-1)
- Midlothian (6-2)
- Kecoughtan (5-1)
- Menchville (5-1)
Class 5 Notes
Matoaca’s pitching staff has been nothing short of dominant — a perfect game, a no-hitter, and just one hit allowed all season with zero runs surrendered. That’s early-season dominance at its finest.
Lightridge picked up one of the best wins of the week, knocking off previously unbeaten Woodgrove in a back-and-forth 6-5 battle.
Riverbend continues to quietly dominate, allowing just four runs all season, while Deep Run made a major statement with a 3-2 win over defending Class 6 champion Glen Allen.
Region 5A remains a gauntlet. Ocean Lakes, Hickory, and Great Bridge continue to trade wins, and both Hickory and Kellam added impressive victories over nationally ranked St. Catherine’s.
Class 6 Top 10
- Colgan (7-0)
- Osbourn Park (7-0)
- Wakefield (6-0)
- Madison (2-0)
- Mountain View (8-1)
- South County (5-1)
- Western Branch (5-1)
- West Springfield (5-1)
- Langley (5-1)
- Thomas Jefferson (4-1)
Class 6 Notes
Colgan remains unbeaten and firmly in the top spot, though a true signature win is still on the horizon.
Osbourn Park continues to validate its ranking with a convincing win over early VA Prep favorite Gainesville — a result that reinforces its position near the top.
Madison faced strong competition over spring break and should be a force in the Concorde District moving forward.
Mountain View’s only blemish came against No. 1 Colgan, while Langley turned heads this week with an impressive win over rival McLean.
Final Takeaway
Across all three classes, the common theme is clear: dominant pitching and early-season statement wins are driving the rankings. While several teams remain undefeated, the real separation will come over the next few weeks as district and regional matchups begin to stack up.
Expect movement — and plenty of it — in the next edition of the Top 10.
