Eastern View continues to look like the favorite out of Region 4B and faces another key test this week against King George. The Cyclones have handled pressure well all season and continue to stack quality wins as postseason play approaches. Amherst County, once again, looks every bit like a state title contender and remains one of the most complete teams in Virginia. The Lancers have lived up to the early-season hype and appear poised to represent Region 4D deep into June. Sherando remains firmly in the championship conversation as well and has the pitching and lineup depth to challenge anyone in Class 4.

The Region 4C race may ultimately be the most entertaining battle in the state. Loudoun County’s matchup against Woodgrove this week could go a long way toward determining regional momentum, while Tuscarora remains right in the mix as another dangerous Catoctin contender. Dinwiddie and Patrick Henry (Ashland) continue to battle for position in Region 4B, and both squads have shown they are capable of making a serious postseason push. James Wood rounds out the upper tier of contenders and should continue to factor heavily into the Region 4D picture alongside Amherst County and Sherando. Hanover also continues to quietly build a strong resume and remains a dangerous out in tournament play.

CLASS 5 TOP TEN

Lightridge continues to separate itself from the rest of Class 5 after another dominant week that included two convincing wins over Stone Bridge. The Bolts remain undefeated and continue to look like the clear favorite in the north. Matoaca has been just as impressive, riding a twelve-game winning streak that includes five consecutive shutouts. Defending state champion Midlothian has climbed back into the top three after winning eight straight games and once again looks dangerous as postseason softball arrives.

The Beach District remains one of the strongest collections of teams in Virginia. Ocean Lakes moves up after a key win over Kellam and now carries six straight victories into tournament play. Hickory remains firmly in the championship picture as well, while Deep Creek rebounded nicely after a rough stretch with two important wins this week. Menchville’s victory over Kecoughtan helped solidify its standing in the Region 5B race, though both programs remain strong contenders moving forward. Riverbend rounds out the rankings and continues to represent one of the more battle-tested squads in Northern Virginia.

CLASS 6 TOP TEN

Madison remains the standard in Class 6 and continues to prove why it belongs at the top of the rankings. The Warhawks are undefeated, but their biggest challenges are still ahead with district and regional tournaments looming. South Lakes pushed Madison earlier this season and would love another opportunity, while the Liberty District continues to feature several dangerous teams capable of creating postseason drama. Still, Madison’s consistency, experience, and overall talent make them the favorite to emerge from Region 6D once again.

Region 6B could ultimately decide the state championship picture. Mountain View’s only blemishes came against Colgan and Patriot, and the Wildcats continue to look like one of the most balanced teams in Virginia. Colgan, meanwhile, enters postseason play fresh off a bye in the Cardinal District tournament and appears destined for another deep run. A potential Mountain View-Colgan regional championship matchup feels inevitable and could be one of the best games in the state this year.

Langley and McLean headline a loaded Liberty District group that also includes Yorktown and Wakefield. Langley continues to look like the top threat from the district, but McLean has steadily climbed the ladder and earned respect after battling through a difficult schedule. Hayfield appears ready to make a serious push through Region 6C and should enter postseason play as a National District favorite. Lake Braddock and West Springfield remain dangerous challengers in that same region, while Western Branch continues to lead the Region 6A discussion alongside Grassfield. Edison rounds out the top ten after another strong stretch and gives the National District yet another team capable of making noise in the playoffs.
