Virginia High School Softball Daily: Statement Wins and Shutouts on April 21
Fluvanna County set the tone with an 8-6 win over Western Albemarle, while Great Bridge handled Western Branch 5-2. In tight defensive showcases, Sherando edged Fauquier 1-0 and BattlefieldHS blanked Gainesville 2-0. Lake Braddock added a decisive 7-1 result over West Springfield to cap a strong slate of headliners.
Close finishes dotted the card elsewhere. Stuarts Draft slipped past Buffalo Gap 4-3, and Central (Wise) outlasted Lee 9-8. Lancaster topped Northumberland 9-5, Patrick County matched that 9-5 score against James River (Buchanan), and Franklin County controlled William Byrd 9-3.
Several teams rolled in shutout fashion. King William overpowered Charles City County 11-0, Auburn cruised past Giles 11-0, and Ocean Lakes swept aside Landstown 11-0. Turner Ashby delivered a 12-0 win over East Rockingham, Windsor beat Surry County 12-1, and Abingdon finished the night with a 15-2 statement against Union.
