Virginia High School Softball Daily: Statement Wins and One-Run Drama — April 24, 2026
Headliners delivered across the Commonwealth. Deep Creek turned back Ocean Lakes, 6-4; Auburn handled George Wythe, 7-4; Amherst County powered past Rustburg, 10-3; and Hickory controlled Menchville, 3-1. In Northern Virginia, BattlefieldHS edged Osbourn Park, 7-6, while West Springfield kept pace with a 10-4 win over Lake Braddock. Great Bridge clipped Landstown, 4-3, to cap a strong slate of showcase results.
Tight finishes defined the night. Langley outlasted Yorktown, 3-2; Turner Ashby did the same to Spotswood, 3-2; and Central (Woodstock) slipped by Page County, 4-3. New Kent prevailed in a 9-8 shootout with Gloucester, and Thomas Jefferson topped Hayfield in a 15-14 thriller. MadisonHS added a decisive punch with a 14-3 victory over Oakton.
Power and pitching rounded out the board. Abingdon rolled past John S. Battle, 16-2; Dinwiddie blanked Powhatan, 8-0; Sherando shut down Clarke County, 9-0; and Alleghany closed the night with a 10-0 win over Rockbridge County. Poquoson handled YorkHS, 4-1; Louisa County beat Fluvanna County, 8-3; Staunton River outlasted William Byrd, 13-7; Cave Spring topped Pulaski County, 9-3; Cosby outscored Manchester, 10-8; Appomattox County surged past William Campbell, 15-1.
