Shutouts and statement wins headlined Monday’s slate. Lightridge overwhelmed Riverbend, 12-0, while Hickory blanked Kecoughtan, 11-0, and Auburn rolled past George Wythe, 16-0. Patrick Henry (Ashland) delivered the afternoon’s biggest margin in a 20-0 rout of Varina, with Western Branch cruising 11-1 over Cox. McLean handled Oakton, 13-3, and Amherst County closed strong in a 15-2 win over Altavista.
In measured, well-controlled victories, Poquoson turned back New Kent, 7-3; Cosby topped Hanover, 8-4; and East Rockingham handled Western Albemarle, 8-2. Broad Run tightened the screws late to finish off BattlefieldHS, 3-1.
The tightest finishes belonged to Fauquier and Patrick County. Fauquier edged Tuscarora, 2-1, behind clutch late-game execution, while Patrick County outlasted Giles, 6-5, to cap a day that mixed dominant pitching with timely bats across the Commonwealth.
