Pitching set the tone at the top. Mountain View edged Riverbend 1-0 in a classic tight-window shutout, while Western Branch controlled Deep Creek 5-1. Granby added late-inning drama with a crisp 5-4 decision over Great Bridge to cap a trio of statement wins.
The bats boomed elsewhere. Abingdon overpowered Central (Wise) 16-6, and Ocean Lakes dominated Kempsville 10-0, slamming the door with a clean sheet.
The margin for error was razor-thin in the nightcaps. Menchville slipped past Phoebus 1-0 behind another shutout, and Pulaski County closed out Christiansburg 3-1 to round out a day defined by clutch pitching and timely swings.
