BattlefieldHS edged Mountain View 3-2 in a tight finish, Broadway clipped Western Albemarle 2-1, and Rustburg prevailed 2-1 over Turner Ashby to headline the day’s most balanced clashes.
Shutouts came in waves. Rappahannock rolled past Northumberland 10-0, Strasburg blanked Stuarts Draft 5-0, and Granby dismissed Kecoughtan 9-0. Poquoson overwhelmed Nottoway 14-0, Lightridge silenced Potomac Falls 10-0, Fauquier cruised 10-0 over Goochland, and Woodgrove closed out Loudoun Valley 7-0.
Close-call specialists had their say, too. Central (Woodstock) nipped Page County 5-4, MidlothianHS slipped by Clover Hill 3-2, and Grassfield edged Manchester 3-2. Lancaster outlasted Mathews 6-5, and Patrick Henry (Ashland) matched that margin over Atlee, 6-5.
The bats boomed elsewhere: Appomattox County powered past Dan River 13-2; Tuscarora topped Loudoun County 11-3; Menchville handled Bethel 15-1; and Jamestown surged past Churchland 17-1. Western Branch beat Cosby 5-1, Independence downed Gainesville 6-2, Gloucester topped Grafton 10-6, Richlands defeated Central (Wise) 8-2, Buffalo Gap beat Luray 5-2, and Lee got past Lebanon 4-2.
