An early thank you…
As another Virginia high school softball season begins to wind down, we want to thank everyone who helped make 2026 such a memorable year for VA Prep Softball. We are especially grateful to the coaches, parents, players, and fans who contributed scores, corrections, insights, and encouragement throughout the season. Your support allows us to provide statewide coverage that simply wouldn’t be possible otherwise.
A special thank you goes to Mike Cooney, whose weekly contributions, research, and dedication have helped make our coverage more accurate, informative, and meaningful for softball fans across Virginia.
At VA Prep Softball, we strive to be impartial, informative, and passionate about the game. Our goal is never to be the loudest voice in Virginia softball—only to be a trusted one. We enjoy celebrating the state’s elite teams, but we also take pride in recognizing the stories that don’t always make the headlines. The underdogs. The small-town programs. The teams that outperform expectations. The groups whose success is built not around one star player, but around hard work, chemistry, and a commitment to each other.
Thank you for spending another season with us. Congratulations to all of this year’s players, coaches, and teams on their accomplishments. We’ll see you again in 2027. Until then—keep working, keep improving, and keep playing the game the right way.

While we’re reflecting on another great year of Virginia softball, the season isn’t quite over yet. We still have one final week of state championship competition ahead of us. Good luck to all of the remaining teams as they compete for a state title. We look forward to following and updating your journey to the very end.
