District Updates
Beach (VaPrep Projection: Kellam)
This large 11-team district is led by Kellam and Ocean Lakes. Kellam faces a big test soon against a Southeastern powerhouse. Expect both to make strong runs in the Class 5 bracket.
Blue Ridge (VaPrep Projection: Franklin County)
Franklin County has dominated locally, but hasn’t yet been tested against Region 5C’s best. They’re the favorite to win the district.
Cardinal (VaPrep Projection: Colgan)
Early-season losses aside, Colgan has been dominant since. A non-district matchup vs. McLean will give insight into how far they can go.
Cedar Run (VaPrep Projection: Battlefield)
Battlefield leads but faces strong challenges from Patriot, Freedom, and Osbourn Park (last year’s champs). Keep an eye on Gainesville, a rising young program.
Central (VaPrep Projection: Dinwiddie)
The race includes Matoaca, Prince George, and Class 4 leader Dinwiddie. A key showdown is on the horizon to determine district supremacy.
Concorde (VaPrep Projection: Madison)
Madison is the favorite to win it all in Class 6. However, South Lakes, Westfield, and Oakton may emerge as strong contenders.
Colonial (VaPrep Projection: Godwin)
It’s all about Godwin, the top-ranked team in VHSL and MaxPreps. Glen Allen and Deep Run are solid, but a step behind.
Commonwealth (VaPrep Projection: Riverbend)
Riverbend is slightly ahead of North Stafford. Both will be key teams to watch in the upcoming regional and state brackets.
Dominion (VaPrep Projection: Midlothian)
Midlothian and Godwin—both undefeated—will soon clash. Cosby and Clover Hill have strong records but trail Midlothian.
Eastern (VaPrep Projection: Granby)
Granby leads with Maury in close pursuit. Their upcoming matchup will likely decide the district’s Class 5 leader.
Jefferson (VaPrep Projection: Monticello)
Louisa County and Monticello are the key Class 5 teams. With a light remaining schedule, Monticello has a chance to pull ahead.
Liberty (VaPrep Projection: McLean)
McLean and Langley are fierce rivals. Langley won their last head-to-head, but McLean has the stronger season record. Expect fireworks in Region 6D.
National (VaPrep Projection: Edison)
Edison and Hayfield remain perennial contenders, with Thomas Jefferson making a surprise surge. Next week’s Edison-Hayfield rematch will be critical.
Patriot (VaPrep Projection: West Springfield)
West Springfield, Lake Braddock, and South County are in a tight three-way race. Expect two of them to make deep runs in the state tournament.
Peninsula (VaPrep Projection: Gloucester)
Kecoughtan is the top Class 5 team here, with Bethel and Menchville trailing. Gloucester, a Class 4 team, is our pick to win the district overall.
Potomac (VaPrep Projection: Lightridge)
Lightridge is the standout, though Independence will test them soon. Both are contenders for the Class 5 title, along with Midlothian and Godwin.
Southeastern (VaPrep Projection: Hickory)
A deep and competitive district. Hickory and Western Branch lead the pack, but Great Bridge, Deep Creek, and Grassfield all have upset potential.
