Virginia High School Softball Daily Update — June 4, 2026
Pitchers owned the spotlight in multiple nail-biters. Grassfield blanked Western Branch 1-0, while Strasburg matched the script with a 1-0 win over Central (Woodstock). Broadway edged Rustburg 2-1 and Jamestown slipped past Gloucester 2-1. New Kent added a clean 4-0 shutout of YorkHS.
Elsewhere, late-inning tension defined the day. Poquoson outlasted King William 8-7, Independence clipped BattlefieldHS 6-5, and Dinwiddie twice prevailed 9-8—over Patrick Henry (Ashland) and Patrick Henry (Roanoke). Tuscarora topped Woodgrove 8-6, and Buffalo Gap handled William Campbell 8-6. Fauquier controlled Skyline 3-1, and Richlands finished off Lee 5-2.
Several teams flexed at the plate in comfortable wins. Lightridge defeated Riverbend 8-2, Rappahannock beat Lancaster 7-3, Granby got past Menchville 9-5, and Abingdon powered by Staunton River 12-5.
