Rankings are based on 2025 VHSL Class 5 postseason advancement, state tournament results, regional strength, and game-level analysis published during the 2025 postseason.


1. Midlothian

2. Godwin

With a championship-caliber core returning, Godwin projects as a top-tier 2026 contender.


3. Kellam

Kellam reached the state semifinals and proved capable of competing with the eventual champion. The Knights entered the postseason with momentum and carried it through multiple quality wins. Their combination of postseason experience and disciplined execution made them one of the most reliable teams in the bracket. That performance positions Kellam firmly in the top three heading into 2026.


4. Great Bridge

Great Bridge delivered one of the strongest quarterfinal performances in the 2025 state tournament. 9. Hickory

Hickory remains firmly in the Class 5 conversation for 2026.
