  4. Sherando
  5. Loudoun County
  6. Woodgrove
  7. Dinwiddie
  8. James Wood
  9. Tuscarora
  10. Grafton

Analysis

Amherst County continues to hold firm as the clear favorite in Class 4, extending an impressive winning streak while maintaining the top spot in both the class rankings and statewide conversation. Patrick Henry (Ashland) remains steady at No. 2 and has a strong upcoming challenge against a dangerous one-loss King William squad. Eastern View stays at No. 3 after a statement win over King George, reinforcing their position as the team to beat in the Battlefield District. Sherando continues to impress out of the Northwestern District and should be favored again this week.

The middle of the rankings could shift quickly. Loudoun County and Tuscarora have critical head-to-head matchups ahead, while Woodgrove remains one of the most dangerous postseason teams in the field. Dinwiddie enters the Top Ten after a convincing win over Prince George, while James Wood slips slightly after a tough loss to Sherando. Grafton closes the rankings but faces a major test against Poquoson.

Class 5

Top Ten

  1. Lightridge
  2. Matoaca
  3. Deep Creek
  4. Hickory
  5. Kecoughtan
  6. Riverbend
  7. Ocean Lakes
  8. Kellam
  9. Deep Run
  10. Riverside

Analysis

Lightridge keeps the No. 1 ranking after another dominant week featuring two shutout victories. The biggest move belongs to Matoaca, which climbs to No. 2 after an emphatic 6-0 win over Riverbend. That game featured one of the most remarkable individual performances of the season: a perfect game with 16 strikeouts, plus a grand slam at the plate. Deep Creek rises to No. 3 after defeating Ocean Lakes in a Top Ten showdown.

Elsewhere, Hickory, Kecoughtan, and Riverside all handled business in convincing fashion. Deep Run suffered a non-VHSL loss to St. Catherine’s, while Riverbend looks to rebound quickly. Next week’s marquee matchup sends Lightridge to Riverbend in a rematch of last year’s regional final, while Hickory and Kecoughtan square off in another clash of contenders.

Class 6

Top Ten

  1. Madison
  2. Wakefield
  3. McLean
  4. Mountain View
  5. Forest Park
  6. Colgan
  7. Battlefield
  8. West Springfield
  9. Langley
  10. Edison

Analysis

Madison stays unbeaten against VHSL competition and remains the clear No. 1 team in Class 6. Wakefield and McLean continue to lead Region 6D, with a highly anticipated matchup looming in the coming weeks. Langley adds intrigue after already defeating both of those contenders head-to-head, making the Liberty District race one of the most fascinating in the state.

Mountain View drops after a surprising loss to Patriot, while Forest Park also slides following a setback against Osbourn Park. Those results continue to raise questions about how Region 6B will shake out, especially with Battlefield and other Cedar Run powers in the mix. Colgan remains dangerous, while West Springfield looks poised for another strong week. Edison rounds out the rankings, but a looming showdown with Hayfield could soon reshape the National District picture.
