The week of VHSL Class 6 softball had a series of upsets leading in to the tournament:
For the Cardinal District, WOODBRIDGE upset COLGAN to become the district champion. HYLTON and FOREST PARK rounded out the #3 and #4 seeds.
Cedar Run went as expected. BATTLEFIELD had a very close win against OSBOURN PARK to become district champion. PATRIOT and FREEDOM rounded out the #3 and #4 seeds.
Concorde district winner was MADISON as expected. SOUTH LAKES is #2, WESTFIELD is #3. #4 had an upset with CHANTILLY beating OAKTON.
Liberty district had a significant upset with MARSHALL defeating WAKEFIELD and then defending VHSL Class 6 state champions MCLEAN. LANGLEY went on to defeat MARSHALL to become the Liberty district champions.
National district had an upset with EDISON defeating HAYFIELD in the district championship. FALLS CHURCH and THOMAS JEFFERSON round out the #3 and #4.
Patriot district is pending the championship game. But WEST POTOMAC has already upset ROBINSON and SOUTH COUNTY, and will face regular season leader LAKE BRADDOCK. WOODSON and SOUTH COUNTY are the #3 and #4 leaders.
