CLASS 6 – Top 5 Teams

1. Osbourn Park. The defending Class 6 state champions sit at the top of the list. They started the season strong with impressive scrimmage performances, reinforcing their position as the team to beat. Until proven otherwise, the reigning champs remain the clear favorites.

2. Madison. A perennial state championship contender, Madison made a deep run last season. Despite a new head coach, they are expected to continue their tradition of excellence and remain a serious title threat.

3. South Lakes. South Lakes returns with a talented roster and is poised for another strong season. Alongside Madison, they represent the powerful Concorde District and should be a top contender for the championship.

4. Cosby. Cosby enters the season with a strong team and has already shown promise in early scrimmages. Expect them to be in the mix when the postseason arrives.

5. Grassfield. Grassfield boasted the best regular-season record in 2025. As the Region 6A frontrunner, they are a must-watch team this year.

Dark Horse: Langley. This could be Langley’s breakout season. With impressive hitting, solid pitching, and consistent defense, they are strong across the board. Don’t be surprised if they make a deep run in June.

CLASS 5 – Top 5 Teams

1. Riverside. The defending Class 5 state champions are out to prove they aren’t a one-hit wonder. With a strong returning team and a solid start to the season, Riverside is looking to defend their title.

2. Kellam. Kellam is a consistent state tournament presence, whether in Class 5 or during their time in Class 6. They continue to be a dominant force, regardless of the competition.

3. Hickory. A Region 5A powerhouse, Hickory returns a formidable team and is expected to be in the championship conversation as the season progresses.

4. Lightridge. A strong Potomac District squad, Lightridge has the talent to return to the state championship this season.

5. Louisa County. A Jefferson District powerhouse, Louisa County made an impressive postseason run, falling in a close battle against the eventual state champions. Expect them to be in the gold medal hunt this year.

Dark Horse: Deep Creek. Despite missing last year’s state championship, Deep Creek had an impressive 2024 campaign. Keep an eye on them—they could make waves in June.
