Top Five (04-11-25)

The undefeateds are narrowing. And this will narrov further after Saturday’s games, where undefeated Godwin, Hickory, and Kellam face off– three top 10 Class 5 schools. Class 6 heads into spring break with several exhibition/tournament games, so the top. 5 are unlikely to change.

Class 6

  1. MADISON leads the top five for Class 6 with the largest run differentials and solid wins against a talented WESTFIELD squad. MADISON looks tough to beat in the Concorde district.
  2. MCLEAN has come on strong with a dominant win over the always-competitive WAKEFIELD. It’s looking like MADISON and MCLEAN will be facing off for the Region 6D championships– although a lot can happen in the weeks ahead.
  3. WESTERN BRANCH remains undefeated and none of the games they’ve played have been difficult wins. And with no major games on the horrizon, expect WESTERN BRANCH to continue winning until districts and beyond.
  4. GLEN ALLEN has had a few close games– but remains undefeated without a major game upcoming. So expect them to continue in the top five for the weeks ahead.
  5. OAKTON had a loss to the talented SOUT LAKES team. It’s looking like MADISON is the leader for Concorde with OAKTON, SOUTHLAKES, and WESTFIELD vying for the #2 district slot.

Class 5

  1. KELLAM contniues to win– but the games have not been run-aways. There are difficult games against GODWIN and KEMPSVILLE so this may be the week to unseat the #1.
  2. MIDLOTHIAN has had a few close games, but continues their winning streak. They will likely be untested for this week.
  3. LIGHTRIDGE has had several close games– but close games agains talented teams like WOODGROVE.
  4. GODWIN will be tested this week with tough games against KELLAM and HICKORY (both undefeated).
  5. PRINCE GEORGE makes the top 5 this week. It should be fun to watch them compete this week.
